Import from forScore

Using forScore? NoteStand takes its export files:

In forScore, share the score or setlist in the forScore format, then save the file on the device where you use NoteStand.

Importing a score (.4sc)

  1. In “Repertoire”, tap “New piece” › “Import from forScore” and choose the .4sc file.
  2. If the PDF has forScore bookmarks marking out several parts, NoteStand asks “Split the parts?”:
    • “One document per part”: each part becomes a document of the piece, attached to its part;
    • “Keep one PDF”.
  3. In a shared space, if the score is annotated, choose who gets the forScore annotations:
    • “For the ensemble”: they join the ensemble’s annotations, every member sees them;
    • “For me”: they go into your personal annotations; you can move them to the ensemble later.
  4. Tap “Import”.

The forScore annotations follow their pages and show on the PDF as an annotation layer. You can add to them with the pen, and erase them with “Remove” (a whole mark) or “Rub out” (only where you pass): see Annotating a score.

To add a forScore score to a piece that already exists, open the piece and use “Import” in the “Documents” list: this button also accepts .4sc files.

Importing a setlist (.4ss)

  1. First import the setlist’s scores (see above).
  2. Tap “New piece” › “Import from forScore” and choose the .4ss file.

NoteStand creates a programme with the setlist’s pieces it finds in the repertoire. If some can’t be found, the “Programme created, with gaps” message lists them: import them, then add them to the programme. “Open the programme” takes you straight there.
